Kickbikes Bring You Good Luck!
Toni

Did
10 minutes short of 5 hours 2 weekends ago and it was great. Kickbiked
from Melton to Rutland Water and then all around, finishing at Barnsdale Country
Club for a soak in the hot tub and a sauna...
Last weekend I'd planned what looked like 2 hours on the map, but
blasted round in 1 hour 25.
Yesterday was to be my last raining session before Saturday's race,
and I had a spare 1 hour and 45 mins in the morning. I set off a little
behind schedule to do my favourite round trip from the gym, best time 1.07. Light
drizzle, but lovely for exercise... then the sun beamed out and the end of
a perfect brilliant bright rainbow plunged into nearby Beeby. This is
a good omen I thought...
So I was not downhearted when I emerged from the Holt Wood. plastered
in mud to find that I had a bloody puncture.... It was 10.16. I was
13 minutes away from the gym by Kickbike, but I knew that I could just make
it back for the 11am class by walking briskly, though the shower would have
to wait, and I'd have to pull on clean clothes over my muddy body...
Now would you believe this... within less than a minute of starting
to push the Kickbike, on an almost deserted country lane, a white van slowed
right down and pulled up alongside me. 3 lads in the front; when asked
I said I'd got a puncture and they said put the bike in the back and have
a seat on the wheel arch! Brilliant! But there's more... the driver
said, "that's a Kickbike isn't it?" when I asked him how he
knew, he said they'd seen a Dutch chap with one at a mountain biking event
they'd all been to... you guessed it was Alpo at Mountain Mayhem! Now
what are the chances of that? And how lucky can I get? Bloody
amazing... and I'm taking it as yet more good karma for Saturday.
